FORT POLK, La. — A new unit is being activated at Fort Polk that will help wounded soldiers get the care they need.
A unit with the Warrior Transition Brigade will work with soldiers to help them navigate the complex military hospital system as they go from inpatient to outpatient treatment.
Fort Polk spokeswoman Samantha Evans says before the unit was designed, a wounded soldier kind of got lost in the system.
The military activated the brigade in spring 2007. The brigade is mostly made up of combat veterans.
An activation ceremony for the unit will take place Nov. 12.
