MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Two Ada women who are charged along with a soldier of trying to hire someone to kill the soldier’s wife have pleaded guilty in federal court in Muskogee.
U.S. Attorney Sheldon Sperling said Thursday that 32-year-old Tonia Mullins and 43-year-old Regina Hercules pleaded guilty to conspiracy and murder-for-hire.
Prosecutors say Mullins, Hercules and soldier Michael Crawford planned to have Crawford’s wife killed so Crawford and Mullins could marry and collect $250,000 in life insurance.
Sperling says military officials have been notified so Crawford can be returned to Oklahoma to face charges.
Hercules and Mullins each face up to 10 years in prison and $250,000 in fines.
