Airman who died after PT test ID’d Stars and Stripes
YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — Yokota officials have identified the airman who died Friday morning at the base hospital as Senior Master Sgt. James Strong.
Strong, 47, was pronounced dead about 8:30 a.m. Friday, shortly after he collapsed during a physical fitness test, according to a 374th Airlift Wing news release issued Saturday.
Base officials said Strong, a first sergeant assigned to the 36th Airlift Squadron, collapsed after completing the run portion of his PT test. Other unit members at the scene initiated CPR and called 911.
Emergency medical responders began advanced cardiac life support, and Strong was transported to Yokota’s Urgent Care Clinic, where resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful, the release said.
