JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — A Marine from Camp Lejeune, N.C., is in jail after allegedly pointing a handgun at people working along a local road and shouting “Who wants to die?”
Lance Cpl. Pierre Montrell Skinner, 22, a member of Combat Logistics Regiment 25, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, was arrested Wednesday and charged with 11 counts of assault by pointing a gun, one count of going armed to the terror of the public and one count of carrying a concealed weapon, according to a news release from the Onslow County Sheriff’s Department.
A road maintenance crew working in Jacksonville called authorities Wednesday afternoon to report that a man wearing military cammies “came speeding past them so close the vehicle hit limbs they were carrying,” according to the release. The motorist allegedly turned around and sped past the crew again before stopping his vehicle.
Authorities say Skinner got out of the car, walked up to the road crew, and pulled a handgun from the waistband of his pants. He allegedly waved and pointed the gun at the crew, then got back in his car and drove off as one of the workers called 911, according to the release.
A deputy responding to the call spotted Skinner as he was trying to enter Lejeune’s Piney Green gate, according to the release. The deputy stopped the Marine, who was arrested after witnesses identified him as the man who pulled the gun.
