Posted : Friday Oct 26, 2007 12:55:39 EDT
Former Camp Lejeune, N.C., residents and employees can now register at the Marine Corps water study Web site for notification and information regarding past drinking water contamination.
If you lived or worked on the base prior to 1987, you may register at
http://www.usmc.mil/camplejeune/clbwatersurveyinfo.nsfThose who register will get updates via letter or e-mail about the ongoing Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry’s health study. This study is looking at whether unregulated chemicals in the base drinking water between 1957 and 1987 can be linked to increased health risks.
The study will be completed by mid-2008.
Former residents and employees may also contact the Camp Lejeune Water Study Call Center for assistance or more information at (877) 261-9782, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., or e-mail clwater@usmc.mil.
While the Marine Corps has obtained some personnel records of former residents and workers, many records are incomplete. All interested parties are encouraged to register to ensure that our notification effort is as complete as possible.
