PETALING JAYA: Malaysians are spending up to RM40 million a year on imported occult books.
Malaysian Book Exporters and Importers Association president Kevin Sugumaran said this only made up three to four per cent of the country’s book import bill of RM1 billion.

"Demand for books on witchcraft has really picked up in the last five years. Before, our larger bookstores had only one or two titles on witchcraft.
"Now, we carry about 20 titles. MPH is a bigger bookstore now, so we have bigger sections.
"But witchcraft is not a topic that we are pushing. It’s a niche market. We only stock general books on white witchcraft. We don’t carry hardcore stuff like black magic."
