| So how many of us here are "just" witches? |
|
Not particularly religious, just witches.

| 1. Hmm. I guess that question was sufficiently vague as to be rhetorical. |

But I'll answer for myself. I'm a witch but don't have any particular pantheon that I relate to. I'm not Christian, but I do more or less follow quite a number of Jesus's teachings. I'm not Wiccan, but I do more or less follow the Rede and figure that what I cause to happen does have a potential impact on me x3, i.e., spiritually, emotionally, and physically. To me, being a witch has more to do with what I do than what I believe.
Just curious if anyone else here sees it that way. :) :hi:

| 2. What an interesting concept. |

I can relate to what you're saying in as I have belonged to various groups in the past. Currently, I practice in a solitary manner drawing from experience gained in Reclaiming, doing the Druid thing, Buddhism, and a bit of voodou. The later is interesting in as you are taught that one need not practice the religion in order to perform the magic; both can be done independently of one another.
There are several reasons why people leave organized groups or covens. Most, in my past, have been brought about from clashes of personalities (there are big egos amongst witches), loss of interest from others in the group (the Druid group had disintegrated itself!), and relocating too far away for participation. To be rhetorical myself, does practicing solo make me less of a witch? Nope!
There are definitely witches who will find the mixing of the pantheons or traditions to be wrong. To them I say, wrong for you, but works for me.

| 3. Solitary does seem to cut down on the personality clashes, doesn't it? |
|
On balance, I've been very fortunate with my covenmates. There have been some ups and downs, but we're like a family and love each other enough to get over the hurdles.
