BROCKVILLE -- Two years after buying the famous Witch of Plum Hollow historic site northwest of here, Ottawa's Eloda Mae Wachsmuth is reopening the restored log cabin to the public.
Wachsmuth has issued an open invitation for today, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., to visit the cabin, which belonged to alleged witch Jane Elizabeth Barnes, who lived in it through much of the 1800s. The cabin will be open every Sunday throughout the summer; there's no admission fee.
Wachsmuth spent $35,000 dismantling and rebuilding the cabin, using more than 50% of the original logs and lumber. She's hoping to recover original Mother Barnes artifacts to display in the house.
