Investigation of cross at academy inconclusive

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — Air Force officials say they were unable to determine who left a cross at a worship space for pagans and other Earth-centered religions at the Air Force Academy, or whether it was malicious.

Academy spokeswoman Capt. Corinna Jones said Friday the investigation is closed. No charges were filed.

The large wooden cross was discovered in January.

Jones says investigators found no clear indication it was intended to harass members of the Earth-centered group because it was found before the academy announced the site would be set aside for their use, and because the site has sometimes been used by Christians and by other groups.

Tech. Sgt. Brandon Longcrier, who sponsors the group Earth-centered group, says he’s satisfied the investigation was thorough.
