Most Pagans I've met, at least around where I'm at, enjoy Monty Python and find it extremely funny. I wonder if that holds true here and elsewhere? Any thoughts on that.

I bet it's true. I can't be sure, though, because I just converted from paganism to Discordianism, which seems to require that I simultaneously think Monte Python is hilarious and that it's all pointless. Or something. I'm currently in search of a Discordian guru to disobey, and will get back to you on this later.

I'm pagan AND a computer geek (ok, a Programmer/Analyst).... both groups seem to enjoy Monty Python a great deal. Not me, though. Just not my cup of tea, I'm afraid.

| 3. Monty Python Kicks booty! |

I love all Monty Python. There is just something about British humor that I like better than American humor... My hubby and my best friend are Pagans too and both love Monty Python! I don't know what one has to do with the other...level of intelligence perhaps, or the ability to enjoy higher level humor? I don't know... but that does seem to be an odd phenomenon... hmmm
yay for Monty Python!

| 4. The unspoken law of Paganism |
|
My love of Monty Python predates my active involvement in Paganism. But yeah, I can count the number of Pagan non-fans I know on one hand (actually, I don't think I know any to tell you the truth).
I remember one year waiting in line to get into the local Witches Ball on Samhain, somebody started quoting from Monty Python and the Holy Grail and damn near the entire line started quoting the movie scene by scene (self included :P). It was pretty funny.
Pagans are just huge dorks that congregate around things that are imaginative and/or fun. I always see tons of pentacles and other Pagan symbols on people at Ren Faires, Trek conventions, etc. At the last anime convention I went to this guy in the dealer's room was selling Pagan bumperstickers and jewelry and they were flying off the table. Incidentally I met this guy before up at a Ren Faire and also saw him at a Xena con...LOL.

All the pagans, and SCAdians for that matter, that I know love Monty Python. In fact my high priestess once said, only half jokingly, that as part of our 3rd degree we would have to quote large portions of Holy Grail.

| 7. I was involved with theatre prior to becoming a pagan.... |
|
Oddly, I haven't been involved with theatre since converting (actually, it probably has more to do with my status as active duty military), but I like Monty Python back then, and I like them now.
Have any of you ever met pagan Republicans? I have, and it strikes me as so incredibly strange that I still don't know what to make of it. How do they reconcile their political affiliation with the strong fundamentalist Christian influence in the party?

| 9. I have met plenty of pagan republicans. |
|
I live in a conservative stronghold. In my experience, the pagans reflect the general community. I don't think the locals have any concerns about fundamentalist influences on the republican party; similar to the christians that don't have any concern about the attitudes and policies that seem to be in opposition of Christ's words in their bible.
The local republican pagans seem to align their republican affiliation from the nationalistic/warmongering aspect of this administration. They seem to gain some self esteem/personal power from gods they call on for aggressive purposes. They are very convinced that they aren't supporting our troops/warriors by opposing the government sending them to battle, and that we ought to be kicking ass all over the globe.
An interesting thing happened about 18 months ago; a new individual from a pagan path that hadn't been represented moved into town and proclaimed himself the "conservative alternative to the fluffy bunnies." Every conversation was peppered with "Rush said," "Hannity said," etc.. Many of the more moderate republican pagans swung his way.
Some of the other moderates are republican because they, or their SOs, are employed by the local defense industry, and defense contracts pay the bills.
Meanwhile, there has been a huge split. Attendance at local events and gatherings has dropped drastically. I quit attending any whole community events a year ago, and stick to small gatherings with trusted friends, where, even if they voted for *, won't spend time trying to defend him.
