| I've decided that since I'm in the military.... |
|
...I'm turning my devotion to Lord Ares, the God of War. He seems the most logical choice. As a balance, I will also turn my devotion to Lady Aphrodite.
The Greek pantheon speaks to me, lately. I don't know why, but I offered Lord Ares drink tonight (pouring whiskey into a cauldron and then spiking it with lighter fluid to make it a drink worthy of a god, then setting it to flame). I took a shot of whiskey for myself and decided to declare my devotion to Lord Ares to the world.
I had previously identified Lady Aphrodite as Lady Isis, but I shifted to the Greek pantheon for the Lady as well as the Lord.
This was part of my Ostara ritual. Ostara seems a strange time to me to be turning my devotion to Lord Ares, but I've decided to be honest with myself about who I am and what I do. As a member of the military, I serve Lord Ares whether I want to or not. In fact, George Bush, Osama bin Laden, and I all serve the Lord Ares, but I am the only one of the three who calls Him by His true name. Bush does not serve Jesus, and bin Laden does not serve Allah; we serve Lord Ares.
While my colleagues turn their devotion to the Prince of Peace, I will turn my devotion to the God of War. I should make Chief in no time.

I am going to assume that you are being serious. And in that assumption, I am going to offer some advice, although you asked for none, so feel free to disregard.
If the Greek pantheon is what you are drawn to, explore Athena. Ares is the god of war, all that is violent and destructive. His path leads to the top, but the cost is morality. Athena is the goddess of warfare (the art of war). She is about defense and strategy. However, if destruction is your path, then Ares is your god.

Ares represents an honorable warrior, and the exploits of the chimpa and osama cannot be so described, so, while you may serve Ares, they certainly will not. Perhaps for the lady you should choose Athena, goddess of both wisdom and war, for methinks Aphrodite likes it not. Blessed Be, and more power to you!

| 3. Yes, yes, thank you. There is a positive side to Warrior energy |

I think those who are concerned about the "negative" of Ares (Aries to me) might want to take a look at resurrecting and working with the positive in both the male and warrior archetypes.
I guess I'm tired -- I'm not expressing myself very well, but perhaps I've at least given a hint of what I mean.
