| Poll question: I have to Poll this for a better perspective of where 'WE' are. |
|
Please add some points as to why you support them. I would put others on there, but I am trying to keep it realistic to the possible outcome.
I am primarily an Edwards fan. After reading his 80 page plan, I have come to a better understanding to where is stands and I agree with them, specially the Same Sex Marriage(Civil Unions) issue which he supports.
He is vocal about Health care, National Health Care and is not scared of taking on BigOil, BigPharma and BigBusiness.

primarily due to his energy/environment plan. I know the differences are for the most part subtle between the top three but I don't trust Clinton on the war and some other issues and I don't like Obama's support for ethanol (in terms of the energy/environment issue).

He does seem like he has decent ideas when it comes to health care. Also personality wise, he seems like he actually understands the concept of diplomacy, and I don't get the idea that he was fooled or went along with the Bushies with anything, which can't be said about Clinton. I hold that Iraq war vote agaisnt her. And Obama...he's a bit too conciliatory at times, trying to please all sides. Edwards seems to me someone willing to make unpopular decisions at times, AND he seems a good advocate for the middle class.

#1 reason for supporting him, but I also like his strong stand against corruption in the oil and pharma industries and in big business.

Most important is his willingness to take on powerful corporate interests, strong on labor, strong on environmental issues. He is easily the most progressive candidate and I'm a progressive.

| 7. Edwards, becaue of his anti-corporate rhetoric |

and strong stances on environmental protection issues. I also admire his willingness to admit that he was wrong about Iraq. That level of maturity is rare in politicians.
He's not perfect, but he's the most acceptable viable candidate we are ever likely to see. It would be better if he had seen that the IWR was bullshit from the beginning, but it seems like that's just too much to ask.

| 10. Could be. We have fewer calls upon our loyalty. |
|
Non-atheist Dems have to balance whatever they think about the world themselves with what their holy book tells them and, beyond that, with what their particular spiritual leaders (i.e. snake-oil salesmen) tell them about the proper interpretation of said book.
And then they have to worry about what god might be trying to tell them directly!
We don't have those distractions. I think that's a real advantage when it comes to clear thinking (focus).

His incredible pandering to the religious isn't going to win too many freethinkers over. But then he's willing to make that political calculation - he chose bigots over gays too.

And outside of the many issues progressives have with Clinton, her whole spiel with the "prayer warrior" thing isn't gonna win her many friends areound here either.

And somebody put up a second poll last week that has the same trend. Zip for Barack and Hillary.

I wanted HRC, but somehow I voted for Pat Buchanan.
I like Edwards. I don't think he has a hope in hell. Even if elected, I doubt what he wants would get through Congress anyway. So I am left with two choices. Their views on the issues are very similar. One of them has a long track record. The other has an impressive speaking voice.

Act like adults, goddammit. A president that can't act like a grownup- we might as well have a paleolithic monkeyman as President... I've gone and depressed myself.
