I got B5 season 3 DVD for $15 from the Goodwill! Woo-hoo!

Went to the Goodwill the other day and scored the Babylon 5 3rd season DVD set for $15! It's in pristine condition -- probably only watched once.

I've been watching the eps and enjoying revisiting this great series. The big thing I've noticed is how all of the plot surrounding the facist takeover of Earthdome by Clark (manipulated by the Shadows, of course) is so eerily similar to what we are going through now with Bush. Example: ISN went off the air (amid gunshots) because they finally dared to tell the truth about what was happening. Once when they resumed programming weeks later they told viewers it was all a lie... Fox News, anyone?

When the series first aired we were in the middle of the Clinton years and that plot made us all think of the rise of fascism in the 1930s. But now... who'da thunk a mere 10 years later we would be facing the same ourselves? How could we let this happen?

and at the time thinking "This really isn't subtle enough" - too over the top.

Now I know better. 1984 was supposed to be a warning, not an instruction manual.
