| Looking for a sci fi short story |
|
A librarian friend of mine is looking for a science fiction short story for a client at the library, and I promised I'd look into it. Perhaps any of you might recognize the plot:
It's morning sometime in the future, and a man is being awakened by machinery in his apartment. The machinery tries to wake him again, and then gets him out of bed, gets him dressed, and puts breakfast in front of him. After a set time, he is picked up by the machinery and transported to work, where they discover that the man is, in fact, dead.
That's as much as the client remembered - does this ring a bell for anybody?

It doesnt ring a bell, but it sounds like something Ray Bradbury would write. His writing in the 50s and 60s was pretty techno-phobic.

In some stories, a character's apartment won't let him exit, or an autocab argues with him about a destination, etc.
Can't think of one that answers the OP's question, though...
