| Have they ever made any movies of Larry Niven's stuff? |
|
Or planning to? Some of his early works were short science-fiction detective stories that could have been done whenever and if it's been done I'd like to get them via NetFlix.
Some of his best stuff like The Mote in God's Eye or Ringworld really needs the modern CGI treatment to bring the concepts to life. Any chance that instead of endlessly recyling "remakes" of old movies they'll try something original?

There is some really good stuff, though not quite ultra realistic, they are really good. " http://www.hellcrown.com/ringworld/ringworld08.htm

is more accessible now thanks to cheaper digital effects and production. Niven, Julian May, Harry Harrison, Lovecraft, etc. All great visualists and prolific creators of stories waiting for a director with reverence for the material.
I suspect that in another 10 years or so Ringworld will be regarded as "classic" enough for somebody to attempt a sweeping trilogy.
