What do you think? I find it a bit conservative for my taste in all honesty but like most Law and Order it is still well written, well acted, and compelling.

| 1. It's okay..I like the cast members.. |

I think they are trying to put too much together in an hour. The jury section could be very interesting, but has almost no time.
I liked the reappearance of the ADA from L&O, whose name I can never recall, as a judge. I always liked her in the ADA role, as well as Richard Brooks because they seemed like seasoned lawyers, which the assistant to a DA Bureau Chief would be, not syncophants.
Maybe one of the problems with their story lines is that crime has gone down so much that the headline grabbing stuff that they could base stories on is (thankfully) as available. In the old episode based on Joel Steinberg's murder of his adopted daughter & brutalization of his wife, the only politics at issue was wondering if it was politically incorrect to wish that the cops had inadvertently shot him in the nuts while he was taken into custody. Now the stories seem a bit more contrived.
I live in NYC. You seem them around filming quite a bit. I've never seen any of the filming in process, just the street blockage, but you do see the actors around town now and then. I once waited for an elevator with the famous Jerry O' in a public building, with him just wearing a parka & jeans.

SVU is the best by far, in my opinion. That's because the actors are so strong, both Mariska Hartigay and Christopher Meloni.

| 3. Meloni is an amazing actor |
|
He was also in OZ on HBO at the same time where he played an evil, bisexual, serial killer. The contrast was nothing short of amazing.

Usually when an actor plays a role like he did in Oz, it's tough to shake that image. Yet I was able to watch both programs and after one or two episodes, I never thought of the Oz character while watching SVU. Did you see that episode centered on his interrogation of a pedophile? That was his Emmy winning performance. He's got to win for that one.

but West Wing has had some great scenes for Toby too. This will be a very competative category.

I want her freaking wardrobe. My girlfriend hit it on the head - she's a soft butch Jayne Mansfield. How cool is that.

| 6. I haven't seen it yet. |

I doubt I will too. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Law & Order fan and I was initially psyched for the show as it would be the last time to see Lennie Brisco in action. Not even my undying love for Jerry Orbach could get me interested in this show, though.
I've come to the conclusion that I am just Law & Ordered to death. It's shown in all its 50 flavors about 900 times a day on two or three different channels. I swear to god, turn on the TV any time of day and I can almost guarantee you there will be some L&O episode on.
I feel smothered. And my L&O love has been waning as of late to begin with. It started with Criminal Intent, a show I could never get into despite my love for both L&O and Vincent D'nofrio (sp?), squarely due to pretty much every episode ending with Detective Gary Stu psychologically breaking the suspect and chewing scenery for all he's worth in the process. Yes, there is something to be said for smart detective work but Gornan is practically psychic to the level of Walker Texas Ranger ridiculousness. About the same time, I started to cringe at the hackneyed plots on Original Recipe L&O literally being stapled together from the morning newspaper (when you can call the plot before the first "Chung, chung!" sound, you know something's wrong). I won't even mention the Rohmbot, except to say her long overdue exit--something I wanted from her first plastic stare at McCoy--was the most unintentionally funny scene on TV in quite a while.
Now I find out Meloni is leaving SVU, which is the only L&O I can manage to care about anymore in spite of stupid ass gimmicks like internet voting to choose your own ending. I know this is a Dick Wolf show and revolving doors are par for the course, but I really, really enjoy the synergy of Benson-Stabler-Munch-Tutuolla. I can tolerate Diane Neal only a little bit more than I could tolerate the Rohmbot on original L&O, so that just gives me one less reason to watch.
'K, I should probably shut up now. I'm just bitter. :(

SVU is by far the best. Trial by Jury is the worst.

| 9. Maybe NBC should just have a Law and Order network |
|
where they could just air all reruns of the four different Law and Order shows.
As you might imagine, I'm a little bitter that American Dreams appears to have been cancelled and NBC is now putting on a fourth Law and Order show.

I'm upset about American Dreams, too. West Wing is moving to its old Sunday timeslot opposite Extreme Makeover. I hope it doesn't fail against that powerhouse.
