| Creator Subscriptions - An Idea Whose Time Has Come? |
|
Feeling quite sad after learning about Cranivale's cancellation, I began to wonder: why don't fans fund creators they admire?
Suppose a series had 5 million fans, and every episode cost 5 million dollars. That's a dollar an episode per fan.
Are "creator subscriptions" an idea worth considering now? With the internet and cost-effectiveness of DVDs, is the traditional route of distribution the best we can do?
Would you subscribe to a show like Carnivale to see it continue? I would.
Interested in your thoughts.

| 1. I'd readily pay $10 per show for Carnivale. |

Each episode was better than probably 3/4 of the movies I've thrown just about that much hard-earned money away for.
Someday soon I think we'll get to that point where each and every viewer will be more connected with shows and their producers, where the HBOs of the world will be able to know exactly how much the fans of a show love it.
