| SURVIVOR CONTEST - Pick the winner & win a prize! - NO SPOILERS!! |
|
Its time for another contest. Survivor amped it up with the whole "race wars" thing. Though I think that was just a ratings grabber and the tribes will be mixed races by week 3.
If you have played before, please do so again. If not, join us. The game is simple. Pick a survivor, and the one that lasts the longest wins. I bought another t-shirt that I will send to the winner. Our last two winners have enjoyed their t-shirts, all it takes is a guess and you too can enjoy the feel of a cotton blend with a survivor logo on it. I know, can you dare to dream such a dream.
The contest opens on Tuesday September 12, 2006 at 9:00 am (Eastern time or GMT - 5 hours). The first episode airs on September 14. The contest remains open until Sunday September 17 at 11:59 pm, which is over three days after Survivor's first episode airs.
Once a player is picked, that player can not be selected by anyone else. The first to post a player gets that player. The longer you wait, the greater the chance that the player you want will be taken.
Good Luck and I hope you all play.

Just my thought.
But I'll go to the website and check out the new contestants. Thanks for doing this again.

and a majority of the SUers who play seem to like it this way. If you want to wait until after the episode airs, you take the risk that your players is gone, but it gives you a chance to watch too.

I agree with you, Dr. Strangelove -- I think this whole race thing will end by the third episode. When I first heard about dividing by race I felt physically ill. Recently I began thinking about when Burnett divided the contestants into four tribes based on gender and age. That ended on the third episode, right? Now it doesn't bother me so much.
Dang, I already have my contestant picked out!
The Amazing Race starts in a couple weeks, too!
How's your baby doing?

|
She is seven months old. Her name is Kailee. She is getting bigger every day and recently started to crawl, which has made our life hell. The contents of the entire house had to be raised 2 feet, gates had to be put up to "cage her in" and now she seems to be teleporting (I swear, I look at her, turn my head and then two seconds later she is on the other side of the room). Other than a lack of sleep, we are all great. Thanks for asking.

It's hard to tell anything without hearing them talk and watching them interact, but I'll go out on a limb and take the guy who seems like he'd be one of the best "survivors" at least in terms of physical and survival abilities.

You'll have to repost your selection once it opens. This was just a notice to give everyone a chance to see the players and make a decision.

He seemed to recognize that as annoying as cowboy is, he has something to contribute. BEing able to see past annoying qualities and find values to exploit are a key to winning this game. He has the ability to find them, but is he someone who can exploit others to drive himself further in the game. we will see.

I feel like Jerry in the "Master of my Domain" episode of Seinfeld.
I hate it that Jonathan is out, I love that scheming style of play. The game will be just a little bit more boring now that he's out. We'll see how the power struggle with Ozzy and Yul plays out...

I'm glad that Ozzy at least got the car, and besides, runner-up gets enough money that he'll be able to go to school like he wants, so it's really ok.
But, I still think Ozzy was the best player :)

I spent most of the show debating between the two. It really was a very close call. Ozzy played a great physical game, but without Yul's move to get Johnathon to flip, Ozzy might not have been there. He always was the first one to get voted out, so he may not have won. Overall, it deserved to be close. Going in the the vote I called it 5-4 for Yul. I'm okay with this. So I get to keep my T-shirt. I will wear it with pride.

Yul deserved what he got even though I was pulling for Ozzy. I think Ozzy's physical strength in the challenges after the mutiny is what kept their tribe in the game. So, it was a very close call and I'm glad that Ozzy won something and I'm glad that you won something :). It will be interesting to see where Ozzy's life goes from this point. I think he has a lot of potential.

I'm glad Yul won in the end but I liked Ozzy, too. Actually, I don't remember being really annoyed or disliking anyone on this season. Usually there is one mean or annoying person (or portrayed that way at least) that I cannot stand. Jonathan was supposed to be the bad guy but he wasn't unlikeable.
Anyway... Congratulations! :toast:

I was 51% pulling for Yul just because I like the social aspect of the game, but Ozzy had me worried on that balance perch. Sundra surprised me how long she held on, but both Sundra and Becky should be ashamed of themselves with the fire. There is a reason she didn't get one single vote. As long as Sundra and Becky didn't win I was happy.
I like the way that Adam went out stirring things up for the sake of the jury calling becky and sundra both boring and basically worthless in the game. I agreed with him.

who do you think Sundra voted for? I was thinking that maybe, if she wanted Ozzy to win, she could have thrown the fire challenge (knowing that no way she'd win against either Yul or Ozzy) and that keeping Becky in the final three prevented a for-sure vote for Yul from getting to the jury.
I otherwise cannot explain how they couldn't start a fire, EVEN with matches!

|
four someone had to not be in the finals, it just so happened it was her. I think she voted for Ozzy since Ozzy voted for Becky to at least give her a chance. The fire making was pathetic, I think that will be remembered above all else. I hate it when players get that far like Becky by flying under the radar. I like strategic or physical players like Ozzy an Yul, just my personal preference. I hated it when Jenna Heidi made it to the finals considering they did nothing besides get naked for chocolate and PB.

Now that I'm thinking about it, that might be the only reasonable explanation.
Becky wanted Yul to win, and so she wanted to be on the jury, and Sundra wanted Ozzy to win and so did not want Becky on the jury.
I think that's what happened.

| 46. Sundra had a crush on Yul. |
|
She admitted to it in an interview. She voted for Yul and said that she knew he'd do more w/ the money. Supposedly Ozzy told everyone earlier that he wanted to run a commune for surfers w/ his earnings and the schooling was added on at the finals at the last minute. She (as did Jonathan, Becky and even-gasp-Candice) knew that Yul was giving most of the money to his parents and that some of it was going to a charity that he volunteers w/ (has to do w/ encouraging minorities to sign up for the bone marrow registry).
In different interviews they've explained the whole fire bit. Turns out they took kerosene off the boat w/ them and soaked all the logs back at their camp in it. Both the women had made fires at camp but it had been much easier for the spark to catch-neither ever had to work at it. Also, it was supposedly a very windy night.
I laughed at how long it took them to make their fires until I read this about other seasons: whenever they've had fire making as a tie breaker it's always taken at least an hour. And there was another fire tiebreaker where they were given matches after not making fire w/ the flint but they only showed them w/ the matches, never the flint.
Like I said, I laughed about the fire too until I read that.

and they had a tie breaker being the last two in the tribe and they started with flint and seemed to do just fine. It may have taken them time but I don't think they used matches. It's been a while since that aired so I might be off on this.
