They announced the plan to end te show two years ago

because how long could they continue to keep confusing you more every week before people just quit watching it.

And they have stuck to it. They had the entire storyline mapped out, apparently. That has kept me sane, knowing that they had it all cooked up beforehand and it wasn't all fix upon fix. :)
