| V - I loved the first episode |
|
I was a HUGE fan of the V TV movies and the TV Series when I was younger. I even dressed up as a Visitor one Halloween. So I was excited to hear ABC was bringing back the series. I was aprehensive when I heard it was going to be a new take ont eh concept, but now that I have seen it, I love it. IT was lots of fun. It seems to have lost the political edge of the prior versions (which was influenced by nazism). This is simply a popcorn series, but thats what I want sometimes. Good production value with very cool effects. The plane crash at the start looked good for TV. Overall I like the idea. I love that the aliens have been here on covert ops for years. I alos love that right off eh bat they admitted that the show has a T&A factor when teh scott wolf character asked if there were any ugly aliens. I mean all of them are sexy as hell. Overall, a good start. anyone see it? What did you think?

I'm starting to lose faith. It just feels rushed and dumb. For all the cheesiness of the 1980s miniseries and tv series, there was a sustained and believable buildup to the visitor's true purpose on earth. I feel like the new series is setting up rules, then not bothering to follow them. For example, if they have been here for years, why bother with the whole diplomatic relations thing, especially if they're going to leave their ships hovering menacingly over major cities around the world? If this is all show, they should be making it a good show. I also find the relationship between Anna and the reporter contrived, too fast, and not at all believable. There's no sense of danger with Tyler, either, and I find his fawning all over the visitors almost unwatchable. Daniel, from the original series, was a much better character arc, for all its awkwardness--you could believe he was a loser kid who found some measure of power and exploited it. With Tyler, not so much.
However, I will watch Elizabeth Mitchell read the phone book, so I'm still on board. :D
