Well,
this is certainly interesting news: Stephen King's
Dark Tower epic will be adapted to both the big
and small screens, starting in 2013.
According to the articles linked in the Google search results above, King's
The Dark Tower epic will be adapted into
three films
and a television series. Apparently, the story is to begin with the first film, followed by the first television season (comprising hourlong, weekly episodes), which will then bridge into the
second film. The second season of the series will follow that, to be concluded by a
third movie adaptation.
The same cast and crew will, according to sources in the articles at the search link, participate in both the large and small screen adaptations. This will allow the studios involved to save money where it counts, and also will allow for lesser-known actors to play the roles- and, hopefully, make a name for themselves in the process.
Both incarnations of the project will be directed by Ron Howard and will also include the author's involvement. The first film is expected to release in theaters on May 17, 2013.
