| Surviror Redemption Island Question |
|
So we know that each week (after week 1) there will be a standoff between the person on Redemption Island and the person freshly voted off. This raises some logistical questions.
1) I doubt we can have two challenges in each episode this season. It would just take too much time to show. I suspect we get every week like the first week, with a combo IC/RC. This makes it easier on the contestants as the number of challenges drop, but knowing Mark Burnett, I bet he makes them even more demanding this season.
2) How will the show end each week. will it end at tribal, then start the next week showing the Redemption Island stand off. Or after tribal will they show the stand-off. I kind of like ending at tribal, but maybe a change will be good.
3) How long does this go on. I figure it lasts until the merge and the new "old" player comes back right before or at the merge. But this can certainly impact strategy. I bet the players don't know how long it lasts. I am still not sold on this, but I think these things will impact if I like it or not.

After the stand-off is done, I believe the winner stays on RI, and does not go back his/her tribe, right? So then after each stand-off the loser leaves, the winner stays until ???? as you asked. (Seems like it should end with the merge) So I'm assuming the rest of the players don't know any of the results of what happens on RI until ???? So, it could conceivably be possible for someone voted off early and thought to be long gone, to show up way later, at the ?????? point in time. Oh so many questions about this new set up.
I just can't imagine another whole season of watching Russell. Per an article I saw in TV Guide, BRob and Russell won't have any special ability to stay in the game but I can't imagine the producers letting it work out that either one gets voted out right away.

that Probst has hinted that, at least once, the tribes will watch the RI showdown. But the way it was done before, on Survivor: Israel, was that nobody knew.
Of course, they didn't re-introduce that person until F5, iirc, which is way too late. They were promptly voted out.
I doubt Russell survives for long. I wouldn't be surprised to see Russell and Rob voted out early, and facing each other at RI. That's exactly what MB wants, after all. He'd pimp that showdown hard for a week.

| 3. Interesting questions with no answers yet |
|
1. I agree that we're going to have nothing but combined challenges until RI is over.
2. A change might be good, but it would throw the whole rhythm of the show off.
3. I have to believe it's just until the merge. Any later is too late. And MB's gimmicks tend not to run into the late game (except for the HII).
New question: when is the torch snuffing? At TC, or after losing at RI?
