| Survivor South Pacific - Episode 5 |
|
Well, this episode may be the turning point for an otherwise boring season. At last someone stood up to Ozzy. I give Jim HUGE props, although I can not for the life of me understand why Keith went along with him. But nonetheless, I sure as heck am glad tht he did.
On with the recap. The episode begins with the latest duel. I swear Stacy was trying to lose that duel. She barely tried. It could be that she was so dumb she did not think that she had to put time between the balls, but I think she really did nto want to be there anymore and was just as fine with losing as she was with staying. Stacey did not do too much damage with her big reveal, but I love that Coach hates being called Benjamin. If he ever asked me to call him Coach I would laugh at him. Seriously, you want to choose your own nick name.
Now, once the spectators got back to camp, Ozzy makes the huge mistake of making the observation that "If Coach is smart, he’ll get rid of Albert soon." Jim was quick to pick up on Ozzy's logic and it told him about his place in the game and Team Ozzy. Jim puts in motion the biggest move of the season and convinces Keith that they could be on Ozzy's list. On the other beach, Coach finds the idol, which now has he and Ozzy with an idol. Both are conceited, think they are in charge but as Ozzy is about to find out, they are really not.
The meat challenge was gross to watch. It looked like undercooked pork. I was so turned off. I think even Jeff realized how disgusting it was.
So in the end, it was the first power move to take power away from Ozzy. It worked. Cochran lives another week. I hope he winds up winning, but there is no way he will. Ozzy will whine and cry next week. I liked this episode best of the season so far.

| 1. I agree that this was a good episode. |

Jim was just smart enough. He did not overplay his hand, but he got what he wanted.
I was so happy to see Ozzy blindsided.
Now it is time to take Benjamin down a notch or two. I will never call him Coach again!
Cochran? I tried to like Cochran. Now I can't stand him. He whines about everything. His whining and his inability to shut up EVER will be the things that get him voted out of the game.

I just think it would be entertaining to see him there at the end. But he won't last. He is just too annoying.

| 3. They obviously had the numbers for a blindside, why not take out Ozzy? |
|
Now he knows that the tribe is against him and he'll be listening for any hints that he needs to use the idol...IMHO they should have got him out BEFORE he got wind of any trouble brewing...
And seriously, Benjamin needs to get over himself...really, his parents started calling him coach at age 18? Yah, not so much...I thought he had turned over a new leaf in this game, but the old coach came out in this episode...

| 4. Keith is not against Ozzy |
|
If Jim would have proposed flipping on Ozzy, Keith would not have gone along and probably would have told Ozzy. As it was, Keith looked close to telling Ozzy, but finally was okay with casting two dead votes. I bet Keith wants to draw Ozzy into his alliance tighter and say, look, we are still with you, but we just did not like her. If Ozzy is smart, he will flip over to team Cochran and take out Jim and Keith before the merge, get rid of the only real physical threat to him in individual ICs.

| 5. I finally caught up on this |
|
I agree that Stacy did not even try, also that her big reveal was... not very big. I thought they spent way too much time making it out that if she said Coach was in charge it would be devastating and I kept thinking... Would that even be a surprise? heh.
Coach going off at being called Benjamin was a riot, that really cracked me up.
I skipped over the challenge after about ten seconds of it, that was wicked gross.
Jim's move was a real smart play, it would have been better to get rid of Ozzy but I'm not sure he could have pulled it off so he did the smart thing. Next week should be good, can't wait to see how Ozzy reacts.

| 6. some good play, some bad |
|
I think Keith and Random Blonde Girl (Whitney) made a critical mistake. They revealed themselves as a dyad that are disloyal. Had just Keith flipped, they could have kept who voted kind of murky and made it look like a move to weaken Ozzy without completely blowing up the alliance. Instead, they appear to be trying to move into the dominant position. Bad play.
Jim, OTOH, made a great play, helped by Ozzy's stupidity. Ozzy really is a bad player, eh?
If I'm Jim, I go full bore with the Cochran/Dawn/Jim alliance, bringing in anybody else who wants to be in and making them all think they're in the inner circle. The problem is, if Ozzy isn't motivated, that may weaken them in challenges. OTOH, the challenges have been pretty good this season about not being able to be dominated by one person as in seasons past.
I thought the challenge was more fun in Amazon (although I generally didn't like that season). The meat was hanging on a rope swinging, making teamwork more important. And Ozzy did have the whole thing suspended in his mouth when Jeffrey called time, so...
I understand Coach's anger at naming a bit. One should be allowed to pick what one is called, right? Isn't that a basic right?

I guess everyone is allowed to ask what they want to be called, but at the same time, no one has to listen. If Coach wants to be called Dragonslayer, people can laugh at him and refuse. I always thought Coach was a silly nickname. I mean this is not a soccer field.

| 7. I'm with Cochran on the unsanitary nature of the challenge |

If anybody gets oral herpes from being on Survivor, I hope they sue the shit out of them, although they probably sign away all of their rights when they agreed to participate.
Maybe the next challenge they can have everybody engaging in unprotected sex?
Idiots.
