Once upon a time, a long time ago--actually, it was either the last 60s or early 70s--there was a TV movie/special/play (whatever you want to call it) that I believe (though Im not positive) played on PBS. It was written by Marya Mannes, and concerned a man who was rescued by the people on an island, which was a very close-knit group. The young man was allegorical for Jesus, and concerned how these people on the island were afraid of him, because he told the truth and none of them were interested in hearing it, because they had warped reality to suit their own rationales and convenience. The cast was not very large--I would say that there were no more than 10 people in all in it. It evidently had been based on one of Mannes's plays.
If anyone can remember this production, I would love to know what the heck the name of it was. This is about all I can remember of the story, though, and that Marya Mannes's name was on it. But I can not for the life of me remember much else about it.
