| Fuck the Scream Speech already! |
|
I heard on "Wait! Wait! Don't Tell Me!" that the former RNC Chair (Bonds?) joked about Dean being the DNC Chair thusly: "It'll be a scream!" Har, frikking, har. They can not say anything bad except that he screamed. For goodness sake, it was only a scream, OK? What like no other candidate ever screams over a sea of feverish supporters? Dubya goes around lying like a crazy man, and the RW is all, "Howard Dean is too unstable to be president." Yes and when Kerry got the nomination the RW was all, "Kerry's wooden and stiff." Make up your mind people. Too emotional or not emotional enough!

| 1. The Rethugs don't matter on this |
|
Edited on Sat Feb-05-05 11:09 PM by TayTay
Whatever they say is completely to be ignored. This ain't their party. I welcome Dr. Dean in as Chair. I think he brings a fresh perspective to the national party and I hope to gawd he brings in younger voters. The Dems need to concentrate on solidifying as a party and getting their shit together. We need a consistent, positive message to take into 2006. I wish Dr. Dean all the luck in the world and my effort, time, money and good intentions to help.
And to hell with the Rethugs. Who cares what they think. They should all be busy right now with their plans on destroying Social Security, getting us into another unnecssary war in Iran and destroying the rights of Americans to petition for a redress of grievances in court. Gawd, with an evil agenda that large, you'd think they'd be busy, not spending all kinds of time worrying about what the good guys are up to. Geesh, evil is off their schedules these days. Somebody call Satan, his minions are dawdling again.

Dean is a great Dem through and through. I think he is a great kind of a candidate, one who is honest and decent. He has already done such a great deal for our party by being a great gov and the chair of the DFA. They can go on hating on him for screaming, but he will show them. He is a steady and accomplished leader.

| 3. Much as I hate to mention the McLaughlin Group... |
|
...one of the things they did on their year-end programs was to point out that the press exaggerated Howard Dean's famous "scream" speech. A couple of group members said that anyone who was in the room would have found Dean's cry to be something other than a scream and would have found it totally appropriate to the energy and spirit of the people in the room. In other words, as usual, the press took something and spun it out of control, to make the story of their choosing and to punish someone who had risen to national prominence.
Thank God at least someone in the pundit class has some brains and sense of fairness.
The legendary status of the "scream" speech speaks to how morally and intellectually bankrupt the current press is. Their coverage is all cognitive distortions and insatiable lust to sell "scandals," while they ignore real people and real stories. If Karl Rove told the press to jump off the George Washington Bridge, we'd be fishing bodies out of the Hudson by nightfall.

Pointing out one of *'s "occasional" mispronounciations is tantamount to treason.

I've been practicing it myself, though we all know, as Kerrycrats, we're not used to such displays of emotion. And I'm Norweigian besides, so I'm doubly unused to such excesses.
Even so.....

I thought the scream was funny, and I rather like it when politicians do atypical things. I like both Kerry and Dean, and appreciate their very different personalities. All politicians need not fit into the same cookie-cutter "all business, all the time" mold - in fact, I insist that they do not.
How boring is that? So if Dean wants to scream and shake his fist, and Kerry wants to curse, and bonk reporters over the head with balloons, and talk about his "Matzo Balls" on St. Patrick's Day - LET THEM! I'll love them all the more for it.

He makes fun of it all the time. That's what I suggested to the Deanie's right after it happened. They were so sad and I was very supportive when I could have gloated. They were gracious, for a day.
Anyway, we're just going to have to have fun with it. Nothing else you can do about it really. No biggie.
