Senator John Kerry (D-MA) will be a guest on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" on Monday, March 26 at 11:00 p.m. (ET/PT). Senator Kerry previously appeared as a guest on "The Daily Show" on August 24, 2004, during his campaign for President. His new book, This Moment on Earth: Today's New Environmentalists and Their Vision for the Future, which was co-authored by his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, will be released by PublicAffairs the day of his appearance.

3. I don't think so, Wisteria. I watch The Daily Show every week

and I can't recall there ever being more than one guest at a time -- the table isn't big enough and the time is too short. I believe it will only be John Kerry. My prediction: in spite of all of Jon Stewart's snark about Kerry in the past, he's going to be very respectful to JK. It won't be like what he did to Chris Dodd. My advice to JK: don't bring up the joke stuff (like he joked at the Boston event about trying "his new comedy routine") unless it comes naturally from the conversation. It's pointless to try to be funny, even self deprecating humor, on The Daily Show unless it comes out spontaneously. Just work on out witting Jon Stewart and keeping the subject on the book and the environment. Of course, I'm an amateur and know nothing about this sort of thing, so my advice may not mean much. :)

5. The actual Comedy Central website has the 2004 appearance

along with the announcement. Imus and the others who commented that if Kerry were like he was there, he would be President, should see this - he was. Just as here, he has a sense of humor, but is esssentially a serious guy.

From what I could hear, he sounds tired and his voice is hoarse. That tells you how strenuous the race was. Jon Stewart had mentioned in an interview that he didn't think JK did that well because he was tired (Jon thought he should have taken more risks with the interview) -- but even if he wasn't tired, you have to be very careful running for president -- everything you say gets twisted.

I think he and Steward had different agendas. This was I think in September around the time of the NYU speech, shortly after after the Republican convention and when the MSM was finally beginning to occasionally do its job on the SBVT. Kerry had had incredibly little TV time given that it was September of an election year and he was the nominee.

Kerry seemed to want to talk about Iraq and the other issues - and do that straight. There really was a need to repeat what he was saying daily on the campaign - because it wasn't well covered in the media and it was distorted. This was a large audience - I think his Iraq comment got the most applause. Kerry's other goal had to be simply likability. He did show a sense of humor - especially when he mirrored Steward's putting his hands on the end of Kerr's sofa. He was good humored and made a few genuinely witty comments.

I seriously think taking any risks here would have been stupid. One bad joke then would have played like 2006. Steward has occasional bad jokes, and he just gets to go to the next one. It was clear in 2004 that Kerry was never given a break on anything. He had to be careful.
