Weird Imus conversation

On the way to something this morning, as we left, Imus was on and he was talking about how you could tell which couples were real and which were just faking it. Then he said that John and Teresa were a couple whose relationship had a very sweet dynamic. (The clowns in the background made typical RW comments about money but he told them to shut up.) Then he talked about how his wife, Deidre bugged Kerry about eating too much fish (because of the mercury) and Kerry told her he was going to write something about that and other environmental issues.

Then Imus said he hoped Kerry listened because, especially if he ran for president again, he didn't want Kerry wandering around like Reagan with Alzeimer's. Apparently this was too much for one of the others on the show - who pointed out "Aren't you and Kerry both 60, KERRY looks great. Imus admitted that Kerry looked and sounded great, but then (defensively) said "but he didn't do all the coke he could in the 80s like me" "or the pint?Quart? of vodka a day" or ride box cars BECAUSE HE DIDN'T HAVE TO. (His syncopant answered no, he didn't to each of the three things.


I don't know what went on before that because that's when the car was turned on. All in all, very positive - weird - but positive. I guess this was either Imus's weird ramblings or he's trying to be nice to Kerry (who hasn't been on the show for a while but went to his ranch).

It's odd timing seeing that two of the supermarket tabloids have "is Bush drinking?" stories on their covers. The Globe also implying there is trouble between him and Laura. (More interesting that they are writing this than whether or not any of this is true) Beyond the title, I don't know what they wrote, because I couldn't touch or buy it.

I think there are a lot of voters out there now with voter's remorse. This has happened before--a president and his administration being exposed as corrupt. It doesn't take a lot of imagination. Of course what has to happen first is the awareness of that administration's unquestionable failure in some way. This is the gateway to taking a hard honest look at their practices. Otherwise the "ends" seems to justify the "means" for so many voters.

If Imus and many other voices out there are saying the same thing, this will be a good thing for JK's chances in '08. One definite advantage he already has is that he is already a household name. Another is that he has had experience running for prez. He does have things to overcome, of course, but that has never stopped him before. In fact, it seems he thrives on it.

3. No - It was a tabloid at the supermarket

that looked really sleasy. The way I wrote it was stupid and it's past edit time. :( The National Enquirer and the Globe were the two - I always look at the front page more to see the way the wind is blowing in the world of these sleasy papers, but have never bought one.

5. Yeah, I was horrified when I saw your post

because I should have realized that everyone in Boston probably would read it like you did. I was just surprised that there were 2 of the tabloids moving in that direction.

6. Somebody on GDP noted that Laura was not wearing her wedding ring

during Roberts's confirmation, whatever that means (disclaimer: I dont wear a wedding ring and have never worn one though I will be celebrating my 19th anniversary in November).

I take my wedding ring off when I'm mad at my husband! It's only symbolic, but still gives me some satisfaction. I can't imagine being Pickles. Her husband makes just about any other husband look good!

8. There was a post in GD yesterday

titled "Does John Roberts ever kiss his wife?" Or something like that. The point was that they looked incredibly awkward. One poster said they needed to take some lessons from Al and Tipper. So, I googled 'john teresa kerry', just for the hell of it, and there are dozens of pics that look like this:




Look at the faces of the people around them. Amazing.
