But was there a male kerrycrat member present? Did JK talk about anything I would want to talk about like how is the skiing? The Surf? Biking? When was the last time he was on his kite board? When was the last time he flew his hang glider? These are critical important matters. A male Kerrycrat has got to know the answers to these sorts of things. Did anybody get an invite to see him again, or to hang-out, and go for a bike ride or other? What is his favorite beer?

Or was it just sex-talk and politics all night? Not to say that is bad, but come on, the real important stuff is what would we rather be doing if the damn world wasn't so screwed-up. OK, I know what the ladies all want to do. I get it. Sex is wonderful, I agree, but so is jumping out of perfectly good airplanes . . .

Ahm, we did have a guy there. He will have to account for himself as I don't know what he said to Sen. Kerry in his private conversation. (LevensonK, your husband is being called out here. Help.)

The pub was not crowded. There were a few people at the bar, just youngish kids and such. We were very loud and having a really good time. And I was teasing Sweetness, GRMLGC, cuz she was being kind of quiet. One of the folks who accompanied us there from the staff was sitting next to GRMLGC and kept giving her little hugs and drawing here out into the world of the insane adults around her. He was so sweet to her. (And she deserved it. Love you Sweetness!)

I think the Sen and the folks who accompanied him came in the near entrance, but I'm not sure. (I was down the end of the table trying to talk to Vek and WEL and IB and everyone and then I look up and do a double-take. Nah, I having the dt's right now, it can't be.) There were guys at the bar after the Senator left. They were looking at us. I said, Yeah, he came to see us. Deal with it.

Ahm, Vanessa Kerry was there, as was Cam Kerry. Ahm, I saw my candidate for District Attorney in my county. I have no idea who else was there cuz my brain blew a circuit. There was no program so I can't fake it either.

Teresa was wearing a lovely blouse and skirt. The blouse was white or cream colored and the stage wa not well-lit and my pic will need some extreme doctoring in order to not look like midnight in a coal mine. (I'm working on it.)

The hotel was all decorated for Christmas. It was really pretty. There was a table with party-food appetizers. I didn't have any, cuz I was a bit nervous and forgot. (I was trying to make sure that I was were I said I would be. Apparently that takes up a lot of processing power in my brain and I can't multi-task. Sigh!)

Not to hijack the thread, but my husband was on the receiving end of a group email that originated with Cam today, announcing that he's not running for secretary of state - Galvin decided to give up on the governorship. As my husband said, "a lot of people were hoping Galvin wouldn't realize he had no freaking chance of becoming governor until it was too late, but someone must have clued him in.

I'm disappointed; that would have been the most exciting Sec. of State race ever. And Galvin is - well - not exciting.

16. It was my impression that the appearance

of Senator Kerry at the pub was a rare one. Members of the waitstaff came over to shake his hand and say a few words, and seemed generally awestruck.

At one point when we were gathered in the corner with JK I turned around and noticed that every eye in the place (about 15 or so people, I guess - it was Sunday, and pretty late) was fixed in our direction. I'm pretty sure they were all wondering what was so special about us, that would have brought JK around to see us.

As for the party, it's all a big blur for me. I was standing right next to Teresa on stage, and we exchanged a few looks during his speech. That was cool. The party was mainly attended, I think, by JK's longtime local supporters and friends. He thanked an elderly woman who has volunteered in his Boston office for over 20 years, and came off the stage to give her a hug. Vanessa was there - Alex was in NY, he said, busy with work - and also Cam and Diana. I didn't see either Marvin or David Wade.

He talked to a couple of the young students about their fields of study, I believe. To be honest, I missed a lot of what he said. The piped-in music was terribly loud and I was at the opposite end of the table from where the Senator chose to sit. Heck, it was too difficult to try to get anywhere near the Senator, what with all those star-struck youngsters crowded around him, so I spent a few minutes speaking to an associate of the Senator's about a pet peeve of my own regarding certain conservative sites on the Web. The young man got an earful of what I think of Freepers.

He sat where he chose to sit. We were already over there long before he arrived. I really don't think we were any more "starstruck" than anyone else in the group, and all one needed to do to get near him was walk up and say "excuse me," and talk to him. Our end of the table didn't have taser guns, and we weren't barring access to him. He chose to sit over there. The fact he positioned himself where we already were is not our fault.

I am genuinely starting to feel as if we are being scolded for doing something wrong, when clearly, we have no control over where the guy sits.

As I explained in another thread, the only time I approached him was to ask him to take pictures with three different Duers who didn't get pics and seemed apprehensive about asking. Otherwise, I just answered him when he asked me questions.

I'd give anything to be carefree again. That night was like going back in time and actually having dreams and endless possibilities for a second. Then I returned to my lame red town and my dull life and that damned mirror that reminds me of how old I got so fast and how far I haven't come...

25. This is not true. Flat-out not true.

The Senator sat where he did because it was the farthest point from the door and the prying eyes of anyone else in the place. This is where you would sit if you wanted to not be obvious and to have a conversation with people without attracting too much attention from people not in your group.

That is the plain and simple truth. It was a logical place to sit. I, for one, got the biggest kick out of seeing WEL and Vek down there, having fun. (And behaving themselves. There are wonderful, intelligent, sweet and fun-loving people who had a good time. And damn it, so did I.)

VEK is 1000% correct that you could just go down and start talking. I did. Then I pushed myself into a closer seat so I could hear. (The overhead music was deafening. We had to sit close in order to hear.)

VEK, you are aces in my book sweetie. You did nothing wrong and had nothing to do with where anyone sat. It was simply logical to sit there. (For goodness sake, do the math. Where else was he going to sit in order to attract the least amount of outside attention?)

Maybe I am just a little sensitive because I have been hearing a lot of jokes about Vektor and WEL and how we were "Kerry hogs." They probably are just that - jokes, but after a while you start to feel a little bit embarrassed about it, cause we really didn't mean to do anything of the sort.

Thank you for the reassurance. Perhaps I shouldn't worry about what other people think. There may be deeper seeded reasons for some of the talk I am hearing lately, which says more about those flinging the barbs than it does about where the Senator sat.

As far as age goes, this was NOT my choice. :-) I'd have stayed 21 forever if I could. I am not an entire generation older than the "youngsters" - not old enough to be their Mom by a long shot! And I haven't gained any weight since I was 12. So maybe I should not take any pot-shots seriously...

Because I suspect that's just what they are.

I do, however, look forward to the looming discovery of gene therapy and aging reversal which will halt the ravages of time - they better figure it out while I still have some cells left!

I decided to be assertive and introduce myself to him because I would hate myself for the rest of my life if I didn't.
