I got to do this informative speech for my speech communication class on a topic. It can't be too controversial and I can't be too biased either. So a little bit o help please, I can't think of a single topic. Its so much more easy to be biased I admit.

What other things do you like to do? I could do this based on my love of gardening or kids or something. What do you like to do? Think of that and then write about it.

As of right now I may do it on the Decline of American Labor in the past 25 years but I talked to my instructor about it and said its not a bad idea but I may get biased. I just wish I didn't have to speak publically, public speaking and I don't get along. This is going to be harder than I thought.

Could you give an informative speech on how legislation gets handled in Congress? The path a bill travels to get passed, where bills get stopped, statistics on how many bills get passed out of all those that get introduced? A little bit about the horse trading that goes on and how more controversial items get packed into "must-pass" bills? (There's some potential to stray into controversy and bias on that last one but the bald facts are striking and ugly enough that you should be able to restrain yourself from adding to it)
It might take a little research on your part but you'd be doing a real public service to remind your captive audience how government really works.

Not sure though if I want to focus on politics though, I already have a "reputation", this is so hard, wouldnt be if this was my only class but I got three others.

| 5. Maybe you could do sports? |
|
Would that be allowed or would it be considered too "fluffy"? You could pick a favorite athlete or team and give like a bio, or maybe something more "issue" related like steroids in baseball. You wouldn't have to go out of your way to do a ton of research either cuz I know you're a sports nut about as much as you're a political nut :P Would that be a possibility?

Yeah sports could work. No it wouldn't be considered too "fluffy" at all, every day at the end of class, we view other videos from other presentations and this one girl did hers on dandalions, apparently theres this town in Jersey where they have a festival, who knew/

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say sports are far more intellectually taxing than dandelions.
Yeah, there's probably a ton of different things you could do on sports, with the added plus of zero controversy value (unless you were in, say, New York arguing why the Yankees suck, but AFAIK there isn't a ton of rabid sports loyalty in your area).

hahhaha but if you wore a Terrell Owens Dallas Cowboys Jersey here, you'd get shit. People here love the Skins, I hate them, Snyder is like Steinbrenner and besides Steeler Nation is the best, and did I mention that our owner is a class act and from the same part of the burgh as my nana and her family.

I am surprised how fun that class has been, I hate public speaking a lot and its probably the most friendly class Ive had so far, a lot of diversity not just in cultural backgrounds but in age too.

If its going to be sports related though, I'd do it sooner on the Pittsburgh Steelers, definely my favorite team in sports now because the more I learn the more I admire the Rooney family and their code of honor, such great people and class examplified.
