Don't know when - he just announced it.
Calling in, I assume - the show's in Fresno.
How WEIRD. I was just idly wondering this morning why JK never appears on Franken's show.

talking about ports. She's doing good!
Before she came on, Franken segued from mentioning Kerry being on later to talking about ports...he was about to draw the connection when he was told Sen Boxer was on the line. It was inferred, though. :-)

I like that a lot: "These guys are screwed up and that's the only way you can put it." Amen, Senator, Amen.
That was a nice interview. Short, but it got the points out.

I captured the audio as an mp3.
Any ideas on how/if/where I can post it for downloads? Are there legal issues I should be concerned about? The file is pretty big (11.6 mb)

There was a bit of a disconnect in the beginning between Al and Kerry. But it got better.
I thought the Senator sounded okay. He does sound a bit upset about what is going on, but, well, he has to live with it every day. That would get me down too. On the other hand, it does make him angry and that makes for a better interview. (His best lines are when he gets to talk about how dysfunctional Congress is.)

|
Kerry did sound a little somber. I liked his little comment that he wished more people would have watched the debates before voting - after Al said he won them hands downs. He then asked about the question on the biggest security threat - Kerry explained his answer and said Bush just agreed. I suspect that Al set this up so that Kerry could make the point that even in 2004, the Republican had to "copy" to answer the question - kind of answers who had the answers on security in 2004.
The biggest surprise was how much applause Kerry got for almost everything he said and when he was announced. (To my ears, listening while driving - more even than Boxer.) I loved Kerry's quick acknowlegement that that is where the Repubnlicans would start the debate - when Al said that the Republicans would say that medicaid wasn't in the Bible.

Its too bad that Kerry didn't do the ad he suggested with the pirate dressup and the parrott. I read some of the truth with jokes and while Al did have some criticism for the campaign, it was mostly constructive and he slammed Hannity's bs on Kerry being a "flip flopper" and explained the complexity of the issues. Franken will be a fine senator if he beats Coleman which I think he will.

He is an American hero though not just for what he's done politically but what his service in Vietnam was very admirable, I mean he could have gone straight to a law firm after graduating from Yale but I guess he really listened hard to what John Kennedy said in the inagural in 1960, I was really hoping that a President Kerry could inspire my generation to serve their country in many ways, Ive thought about enlisting and still do from time to time, I feel the need to give something back to the country. Lotta people when I say that say join the Peace Corps or America Corps but for the former you have to be a college graduate and great with language which I am not. Sorry for ranting about this, I dont know what Franken refers to Clinton as, I do know that he has a genuine respect for John Kerry.

Back to back Kerry - be still my beating heart! :loveya: I thought the reception he got from Al's audience was great. I want to listen to the interviews again, JK said something sarcastically funny right at the end of one of the interviews (I think it was with Al), but I can't remember what it was. (Old brain cells, don't cha know.) Did anyone catch what he said?
I just kept thinking throughout both interviews, "Why isn't this man president?"

really sarcastic about Ahnuld - called him a "girlie man". Really. Can't remember which interview it was in, though (old brain cells here too! :D)
On edit - the Ahnuld crack was at the end of the Ed Schultz interview.
He said at the end of the Franken interview that he wished Franken was the senator from Minnesota.

I remembered it a few minutes ago - something on tv triggered my recall. (I just came in here to post it.) Now, if only I could forget the past five years of the * presidency so easily!
I thought JK sounded very loose during both interviews. I'm sure it's more difficult to do an interview via the phone, but he sounded good.
