Personal whine ! Off topic!

I am really upset. Someone's brat kid driving a brand new Lexus , lost control of the vehicle, took out my neighbors wall, spiraled around and landed in my front yard. A chunk of my neighbor's wall dented the door panel of my car. My neighbor was furious as he had just completed over $100,000 dollars of renovations on his house and was having his "grand opening" that weekend. He had the wall being rebuilt before the kid's totaled car was towed out of my yard. What has got me so upset is that now, as they are repairing my car, they tell me my paint is going to look bad. Something about a panel being "wavy" that wasn't noticeable before the accident but the new paint will bring it out. Naturally, they consider it "preexisting damage" so insurance won't pay to blend the paint as that is an additional $500! My car will look awful. I would have done better NOT fixing it. I am livid. A 16 year old brat losing control over his new birthday present driving 65 miles an hour in a 25 mile an hour speed limit, while trying to impress three girls and change a cd has permanently devalued my car as I can't afford to fix it. Do you think I ought to call the mother? She was nice the day of the incident, but the kid never even apologized! __________________

1. Yes, I would definately call the mother

It seems though that your insurance company - which will be charging his company anyway - should have paid to repair it. I'm surprised that they aren't fixing the entire panel - many cars with mettalic colors have a more complicated (more expensive)2 coat process to paint - but that's what it takes to restore it and I know (from experience) - they fix it. If it looked ok before, it should be fixed.

And you can take this to Small Claims Court. This isn't your fault, it's that kid's. Absolutely call them and tell them they owe you for a new paint job.
Unbelievable. You got screwed by this accident and screwed again by the insurance company. My sympathies. (Who buys a 16 year old kid a car, nevermind a Lexus. Kids should get jobs to get a car or go without. That's just over-indulgence.)

That was my absolute first reaction. My conservative neighbor (he boasts he is to the right of Limbagh!), whose wall was creamed, said I was just miffed because the family had money. He saw nothing wrong with the kid having a new Lexus! His liberal daughter came by and she said"What the F**k was she thinking giving a brand new Lexus to a 16 year old? " Odd. Apparently we liberals are more conservative with our kids than conservatives!

7. I think we just want to teach them to work for what they want

Otherwise they get all spoiled and think the world owes them a living. Next thing you know, they are in one business after another that fails, Daddy's friends have to come in and bail them out and they just become spoiled and unresponsive people. They wait for others to bail them out of trouble. They forget that they were born with a silver spoon in their mouths and think they earned all their money cuz they are Gawd's own favorite people and they are on the road to hell.
Gawd, that is no way to grow up!
(Oh, I loves ya sweetie. We have been agreeing way too much lately anyway. We need a bench-clearing brawl pretty soon or we will get all mushy and people will think we've gone soft. Sigh!)

Yeah, call his parents. Jesus, some people. 65 in a 25? In my state, that would land someone in jail.

A very rich widow. Dad was , a race car driver who was killed in an auto accident. Freaky , huh? I think she is trying to compensate by buying the kid stuff. Dad dies four years ago. Sigh. I still want to punch the kids lights out.

4. I know that story, but not with a new car

And not a brat kid, rather my daughter's jr high nemesis. And a bee got in her little pickmeup, and she freaked out, ran over the stop sign kitty corner from me, through their yard, swerved to miss the neighbor in the drive way, came straight across the street and hit my son's Honda. You guys remember that?? We came out ahead though, Honda is a whole other story. It is freaky when that shit happens, and I'd be hysterical if my current car had been hit.
I got my current car, new to me anyway, last summer. I swear we had it two weeks and the wind blew a shopping cart into it and put a teeny ding in the front. A few weeks later, my husband didn't get the back door shut and I don't know what happened but it got another crinkle in it. I was with him, no he wasn't drunk. This is MY car, the first car that was MINE MINE MINE in I don't know how many years. Grrr.
Sucks to get out of bed some days. Hey I know, hire an illegal to fix your car!! :)
