| Weird positive (I think) Kerry/Bush exchange on MSNBC |
|
Edited on Thu May-11-06 09:49 AM by karynnj
On the "Up to the Minute" show
They are having a segment on outsurcing - they started by saying that it was an issue in 2004.
Clip 1 - Kerry saying that he has said the same thing even in union halls - that you can't stop all outsourcing. (there was a little on the problem of outsourcing)
Clip 2 - Bush saying that Kerry is going around talking about ending all outsourcing
Clip 3 - Kerry saying you to say you would end all outsourcing is pandering and it can't be done.
The clips do show a principled Kerry and Bush clearly lying (or wrong) about what Kerry is saying. They don't show Kerry's full position (leveling the playing field), but concentrating on what they do - the Bush comments are seen as lies.

that the lower * poll #'s go, the more Kerry's name is being brought up.
Probably by all of the people that voted for *, and now they are sorry. grrrr!

If anything, the very fact that they are representing Kerry as an oppponent to Bush (and his abysmal approval ratings) is a positive thing. And, it appears that the clip was a great example of bs the Bush administration throws out about Senator Kerry.

In addition to showing Kerry as the other choice, he comes off very well. In both Kerry clips, he sounded serious, candid, and like he was telling the truth. His 2 quotes are consistent. The Bush quote is his typical sarcastic setting up a lying strawman garbage.
What's odd is it added little to discussing the overall problem. The segment was an ok, but not excellent discussion - it did include the comparison of engineers and scientists (?) graduating in China, India and the US - which Kerry has spoken about at least since the early 1990s.

| 5. I think this one was the "he'll say anything to get elected" meme |

which questioned his basic integrity. When you think of it, they really did try a lot of negative labelling.
