Pittsburgh is not really Midwest. It's Midatlantic. But this one looks much less crowded than the east coast card. I'd love to sign.

Count this Midwesterner in - btw thanks to whoever decided to do a Midwest card, it took freaking forever for us to get the card last year.

But I don't know the protocol. I still have my "Sheetmetal Workers Support Kerry" sign in my street-side window--and I live across from the democratic governor's mansion (in a 1910 converted heat plant/garage that served the hill-I lovingly call it "my hovel"). D ; )

| 6. You just did what was needed. |
|
The first person in this thread will be the first one to get the MidWest card. They will sign it, and then send it off to the next person on the list. That person should sign it and send it off to the next person on the list and so on.
You get the addresses of who to send it to by asking the next one in line for their address via PM. (For security reasons. We, of coure, don't publish addresses online.)
So, you will get the card fifth. I'm sure there will be others to send it to.
Is this a better explanation or still fuzzy? The other thing we did was cut off the cancellation stamp from the post office on the envelope that the card came to you in (cuz those envelope will be replaced with each signer) and glue the cancellation stamp to a separate sheet within. This is proof positive (and visually) that these cards have travelled a great ways all over the country. (It is a rather impressive thing to see, honest.)

How exactly will we know who is next in line? Should we try to keep these threads up and alive until everybody finishes signing? Not much sleep last night, hopefully this is the reason for the fog clouding my understanding of something simple....

|
Always good. (And I mean that. There are a lot of posts and folks in here. It gets noisy and confusing sometimes and we often get dragged off to do other things.)
Whoever gets the card should PM the next person on the list in this thread and ask for an address. Then that person will PM the next person down in the thread and so forth.
If it gets confusing, make up a new post that is called, "Where is the MidWest card" and we can re-sort it out.
Remember, we have almost 4 months to get these cards around. We should have time for them. (We are about 1 month earlier than last year and we have added a card so as to cut down on the wait time. It'll work.)

Do you all consider Nebraska "midwest"? We do here, but usually on the rare occasions we're mentioned in the media, they don't really know what to classify us as. Midwest is usually further east, but since we don't have mountains, we don't really qualify as "west" either. :)
Anyway, I want to sign the card!

These were always just rough classifications anyway. We had to divide up who gets the cards by something and since 'last name begins with a-g' was out due to the fact that no one here has an online last name, I used geography.
We are on the honor system. I am an East Coaster without a doubt. Some of our good PA people are getting in line for the midwest card, cuz there's less crowding. That's fine too. It'll work.

I'm finally more or less moved into my new apartment and am three days into the new semester. (No rest for the wicked.)
I do miss Boston already, but at the same time I'm happy to be here too, to see my family, and to immerse myself in college life again. This is my last year so I want to make sure it's a good experience. There are experiences unique to college life that can't be replicated anywhere else, so I want to give myself a good sendoff. And, uh, get good grades, so my transcript looks decent.
Of course I will be doing everything I can for JK here in Illinois, in whatever form that may take.

Everyone wants to get to sign a card. Not a problem and nothing to worry about. And you are not anxious, just making sure that you are in the queue.

|
Edited on Sat Sep-02-06 09:42 PM by wisteria
out again. I have it in my possession,(cause I wasn't ready to part with it yet)but I can not figure out who gets it next. So, what I am going to suggest is the first person to post mail me with their address will have it mailed to them, then they can pass it along to the next person. I suppose when all of us have signed it, it should be returned to someone who is sure to be able to deliver it to the wonderful Senator Kerry around his birthday. Perhaps, TayTay.
Until I receive word from someone, rest assured the special card is in good hands.
