Yes, today we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit: the fulfilling of Jesus's promise that he would not leave us orphans.
It seems just 95 days ago we were marking Ash Wednesday. Oh, that's right, we were! Anyway, a lot has happened since February 9; most notably, our Pope, John Paul II, entered into his eternal rest and is now on his way to sainthood.
Yes, the Easter Season has now come to an end. Can you believe it? Of course, we still have the Feasts of the Trinity and Corpus Christi in the next couple weeks, but Ordinary Time resumes tomorrow.

It's rather interesting that we started the Easter season with one Pope and ended it with another. I wonder how often that has happened before? I remember Pius XII died in October, 1958, as did my grandmother, and it seems to me that John XXIII, Paul VI, and John Paul I all died in autumn as well, John in 1965, Paul and John Paul I in 1978.

| 8. Yes, at least two of them, but they were received into the Church at |

the Easter Vigil -- a whole papacy ago! It really does seem like a long time, what with John Paul's death and funeral, the Conclave, and Benedict's installation having all happened since then.

It was really very nice - counting Adam, there were only 8 children at the mass receiving the Eucharist for the first time (including Adam's best friend).
When they walked in with the priest at the beginning of mass, my wife started crying (he looked so grown up in his first suit!) - and I was a little "misty" myself.
He's a good kid, and we love him.
