Happy Western Easter and Happy Eastern Palm Sunday!

1. Some of my favorite hymns are sung during passion week

Jesus Christ is Risen Today!, Were You There, Oh Sacred Head Surrounded. Only hear these during Holy Week. (I tend to be drawn to songs in the minor key.)

2. I can understand why the Eastern and Western calenders diverge

on Christmas because they both use December 25. But how does the Eastern Church determine Easter's date? The West used a lunar dating system for Easter, so I don't understand why the divergence would persist if the East is also using a lunar date. (1st Sunday after 1st full moon after the equinox.)

3. I'm not sure.

I know it is all based on the old calendar somehow, so some years we're seriously off, like a month later, even. I think it's explained on some Orthodox site somewhere.
