I've just received the Vatican Information Service e-mail which had as one of its items the following:
DECLARATION BY HOLY SEE PRESS OFFICE DIRECTOR
VATICAN CITY, JUN 27, 2006 (VIS) - Holy See Press Office Director Joaquin Navarro-Valls released the following declaration at midday today:
"I have no comments to make on news that has appeared in various organs of the press concerning ongoing contacts between a Holy See delegation and the Chinese authorities." http://212.77.1.245/news_services/press/vis/dinamiche/c1_en.htmGiven that they're being forced into making such a statement, does this imply that things are moving between Beijing and the Vatican? If so, it should be excellent news for the Church in China.
