| August 2, Feast of Our Lady, Queen of Angels |
|
A Bernardine Sister was given a vision of the desolation in the world and Our Lady spoke to her and told her it was time to pray for God to send Angels to fight the devil and his minions. The Sister asked why God wouldn't just send the Angels and the Blessed Virgin Mary replied that prayer is one of the conditions required by God for obtaining favors. (We all know the verse "Ask and you shall receive.)
Our Lady, Queen of Angels, gave this prayer to the Sister and it is approved by the Church. This occurred in 1863, which was certainly a terrible time in the U.S. and undoubtedly in other places as well. Considering the times we are living in, it seems that we should be praying this prayer regularly.
"August Queen of Heaven, sovereign Mistress of the Angels, who didst receive from the beginning the mission and the power to crush the serpent’s head, we beseech thee to send thy holy Angels, that under thy command and by thy power, they may pursue the evil spirits, encounter them on every side, resist their bold attacks, and drive them hence into the abyss of woe."
"Most holy Mother, send thy Angels to defend us and to drive the cruel enemy from us. Amen."
"All ye holy Angels and Archangels help and defend us."
