In a church parking lot full of cars, mine was the only one so graced -- do you think it might have been because of my Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker?

Were these flyers put out with the permission of the pastor? If not, call to complain. That's what I did and that pretty much put an end to the political proselytizing at my parish.

At the very least, get copies of the USCCB's Faithful Citizenship to put alongside the CA tripe.

ON EDIT: I would add these to the list of non-negotiables:

-- Health care (especially for poor children)
-- Housing
-- Living wage
-- Education (especially for poor children)

In other words, issues that extend beyond the delivery room.

A living wage, shelter, and health care are regarded as rights, not privileges, and the dignity of the worker (with the right to organize) must be preserved.

Unfortunately, though you'll hear those points mentioned by individual Catholic leaders, including some very high up, the media generally focuses with laser-like intensity on the abortion and stem cell issues.

4. Plus, they're dead wrong when it comes to applying those issues to civil law.

The church is free to pronounce abortion as wrong but they really haven't examined the morality of having a state enact those principles into law and punishment. The logic of these non-negotiable principles is that a state must outlaw abortion and is permitted to execute those who violate those laws.

I'm just tired of the tenets of Catholic Social Teaching being swept aside in favor of just one issue. At the end of the day, they are all interconnected. I don't know why that concept is so difficult for some to grasp.
