| Please say a prayer for my good friend and her Mom |
|
Her Mom passed at 1:30 AM last night. She had lung cancer and went very fast (we just found out around Thanksgiving.)
My friend is an only child, father and stepfather both dead. I'm sure she feels very alone right now - I'm doing what I can. She is my one good friend who is still a practicing Catholic and I feel very close to her. I told her today she should consider me the sister she never had (I don't have one either.)
The Mass is on Wednesday and I will be spending Tuesday night and the whole day Wednesday w/ her. I'm also cooking for the "wake."
Any other ideas?

do you know if her mother contributed to any Catholic charity? Maybe you could make a donation in her name. A few years ago, I sent some friends a Mass card for the wife's mother; the Mass card was from a Catholic Charity in Nebraska which has a school for Lakota Sioux children. (I like them, because they work Lakota traditions into their prayers and even use Christmas cards with Native American images.)
Much to my shock, it turned out that the woman who had died, a 90 year old Polish immigrant, made donations to the same group. Her daughter was very touched that the mass card came from them.

Many of us do appreciate receiving food following a death in the family. I know it made a difference for us on various occasions.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
