I'm no longer Catholic but would definitely return home to the Church if they would stop being so damn regressive about everything and butting into our national politics.

I should add that I am not a reformer when it comes to the Catholic liturgy or most of the basic theological questions. In fact, I actually prefer the Tridentine Mass. I don't expect the Church to applaud abortion, but they should allow women priests, birth control, end required priestly celibacy. I don't expect them to bless gay marriages but they should stay out of the debate when it comes to civil, secular, marriage between consenting adults. That's how I view things, at least.

2. That's not a rite of either the Catholic or Orthodox Church.

It's an entirely separate church founded in 2000.
