One of Benedict's confreres tried to poison him, I believe. Attempts were made on Don Bosco's life - whereupon the ghost dog, Grigio, would appear and see off his would be assailants! Margaret Mary had a very tough time of it. I don't think extreme hostility on the part of individual fellow-religious has been exceptional.
