| Maine churches had a 2nd collection to fight gay marriage |
|
Catholic churches up in Maine took up a second collection this past weekend to fund their efforts to fight gay marriage in the state. http://www.wmtw.com/cnn-news/20899670/detail.htmlIt makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside about being a Catholic.

| 4. Between that and the health care reform insert in the bulletin... |
|
...I am really disheartened at the state of the church today. I noticed that my relatively liberal church ran inserts on both the gay marriage issue and the health care reform legislation (and the USCCB's worries about abortion coverage under health insurance plans, which they are attempting to depict as federal funding for abortion). The fact that they'd weigh in on both these issues and not be screaming loudly and consistently universal affordable health care, etc., really makes me see what their triggers are.

The only thing that's kept me in the church this long is the wonderful parish that I'm part of. If it hadn't been for that parish I would've left a year or two ago.
