Uh-oh - better batten down the hatches - Elton John has the

cover story in Parade this week (that's a newspaper insert that's in most US Sunday papers, Matilda) and he declares his belief that Jesus is gay.

It's something I've considered myself. It would explain both why outsiders were so willing to sit down and talk with Him and the virulent hatred from the Establishment. He could have been stoned to death like Stephen, but I think someone wanted Him publicly humiliated in the worst way. Of course, there was also the factor of trying to distance the local Establishment from a perceived rebel. Nothing like handing the guy over to the occupying authorities to prove your loyalty!

In any case, it makes for an interesting meditation. If Jesus is gay, how would that change your relationship with Him?

It's the man and his message that's important.

But the Vatican would get its collective knickers in a complete twist.

I do not believe Jesus was gay, or that he took Mary Magdalene as his wife.

Generally people state their opinions and that's that.
