closed and combined with smaller parishes in the last years of Bishop Moynihan's reign. Is it only coincidence that the parishes closed included the one with the largest African American membership, the one favored by ex-priests that also had an active outreach to the GBLT community and my own which was known as the template of a Vatican II parish?
I was with a group that personally handed Bishop Cunningham a thick binder documenting the chicanery involved in the suppression of our parish. He declined to address the situation, retreating behind a statement that all the proper procedures had been followed.

The reality of the situation didn't matter as long as it could be made to look good on the official documents. The most important thing was to avoid aver-ruling his predecessor.
