The local high school has its graduation on Sunday afternoon down in a major city auditorium. The parish honors the graduating seniors at the regular 9:00 Mass by having them process in with the priest in their gowns and with special music from the choir. It works mainly because the pastor spends so much time and effort working with the high school kids. He actually knows who each one is, and his love and respect for them is returned in full.
There is a long time tradition of the little kids joining the priest on the altar for the Our Father, then returning to their seats during the Kiss of Peace. Today, all the graduating seniors went up with the little kids.

the priest also gave each senior that attended a crucifix. my son went to the mass and the only problem was that when the priest gave him his cross and tried to hug him my son froze. it got a good laugh from the congregation
