| Need help locating a piece of music |
|
I heard this exquisite piece of music early this morning on MPR. Unfortunately, the MPR website still has yesterday's playlist up, so I'm not entirely certain what it was. It was a string quartet titled something to do with the death of Benjamin Britten and the composer was I think Arvo something starting with a P. I should have written it down immediately, but alas I didn't. Can anyone help me out? I would really like to get a recording of this. Thanks.

Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten. One reference here: http://www.enjoythemusic.com/audiophileaudition/0303/classicalcd.htm(Paart can also be spelled Part with an umlaut over the a.)

I just got a CD today with the Cantus, two versions of Fratres, and Tabula Rasa. This music is transcendently beautiful.

That was one of the first CDs I ever bought, and I bought it having no idea who in the hell Part was. I was immediately hooked, and have been a HUGE fan ever since!
had the chance to hear an all Part concert at BAM a number of years ago, including the Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten. WOW!!
