| Suggestions needed: I like Rimsky-Korsakov's Russian Easter Overture, |
|
especially the opening melancholy strains. What should I look for next?

| 1. Try music by 19th century Russian composers |
|
They all seemed to capture that feeling of melancholy
Polovtsian dances by Borodin
Moldau by Smetana
Sheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov (not quite so melancholy, but if you like Rimsky-Korsakov, one of his most popular works)
Rachmaninov Piano Concerto #2
And for a little home grown melancholy, try New World Symphony by Dvorak (written at and inspired by Spillville, Iowa).
