Does anyone else get orbs in their pictures?

Post them, please. I've started noticing them more in my pictures. Okay, so either there are a lot of ghosts in the cotton salvaging plant, or maybe a bit more dust than ordinary places. It's up to you to guess which.



Then there's this, which is really faint, right smack dab in the middle of the picture. The sun is actually behind me in this picture.



If you don't see it, I altered this one a bit to highlight it more.

I just think they are funny looking. Obviously there is a TON of cotton dust floating around in the first one. The workers were even wearing masks. I've never had so many orbs in one picture. Not sure about the second one, but it probably has something to do with lighting.

3. Orbs !? You wanted orbs?

The story behind this photo which I did not take, is that a friend is into "orbing" as she calls it. She thinks the orbs are manifestations of spiritual vibrations.
She brought this photo to me to print for her, as she was going to a conference on "orbing" in Arizona.

I had sharpened it a bit, but I took any embellishment back off for posting here. This is how she brought it, and she does not have any photo enhancing software of any kind.

I have more of hers, and plenty of my own.

The middle tree looks like a "lollipop tree." These look interesting because they have some form inside.

5. That's just lens flare in the last pic

You're pointed straight at the sun. You get flare.

The hoopla over Orbs is really funny, and shows how gullible some folks are.

I've taken shots while its snowing and gotten 'orbs'. But it was just snow.

11. You would not be able to see dust on the lens

..apart from some very indistinguishable blurryness if it gets out of hand. It would need to be chunks if dirt to produce that (I speak of experience :) ).

On the sensor it might show up as a small round blurryness - but FAR smaller than these.

Its light reflection of particles that are closer and far from the plane of focus. Rain in this case. In which case I guess its actually refraction, but thats beside the point. :)

10. If the sun is behind the camera..

..we either have two now or the moons is scary as bright on those parts and right behind those trees.

...the flare was being caused by the sun's light reflecting off the water in the foreground.

18. I'd say the sun was in front of the camera.

The light on the clouds and the power of it makes it hard for me to beleive that that its not sun we are seeing.

And there is another lens flare behind the first one, slighty above it, on the direction towards the light above the trees, indicating to me that its the source of the flare.

Ok, its starting to be easier to just believe in orbs. :)

13. Lens flare...we hates it, Precious...

I've had more good shots ruined by it than I can imagine.

Were you using a filter on the lens in the first shot? I've found that a whole host of tiny lens flare spots is generally the result of using a low-quality filter without sufficient multicoating, by YMMV.

16. I just had my pocket camera there

It was just taking pictures because I think the place was interesting. But this is the camera that I use a lot, indoors with a flash. I never have used any sort of filter with it. I have taken tons of pictures with this camera and only remember getting one orb on another picture once. I think the difference is the cotton dust in the air.

I just think they are interesting.
