Anyone have any strong opinions on which potential entry I should use?
At this point, I don't, so I probably wouldn't respond to this post. I purposely didn't make it a poll. If someone feels that I should enter one of these over the other, would you mind telling me which one and why? It might help me decide. Honestly it was hard enough just narrowing it down to two.

Sandy Reflections

Surf's Up

1. Surf's Up!
Although both are great, the bird pic is whiter overall. :hi:

2. Give us the bird

Love the bird! Both are great. But bird is the word. :)

4. Thanks
I've actually always wanted an excuse to enter this photo in a contest. I remember trying to get the timing on the photo exactly right, and I was prone on the sandy beach to get it, LOL.

8. Thanks!
Not unanimous, but so far majority opinion. I'm a bit attached to both pics, but it was a bit harder waiting for the wave to come up, hoping it did before the bird flew away.

7. Sandy reflections
I think the composition is better for the above referenced photo. It follows rules of thirds and has a number of elements that are crisp. The other photo is very nice but is pretty much center mass with a nice bokeah but not as interesting. Both are very nicely done.

11. Thank you
I do think you are right about the composition. In fact, Sandy Reflections lends itself to the rule of thirds and I paid attention to that when cropping. So, thank you for noticing..............

10. Glad that you have chosen
to enter "Surf's Up" already, because my recommendation is "Sandy Reflections." I obviously love reflective photos, but in my humble opinion, it is a more interesting shot.

Good luck!

12. LOL, I guess I am still taking votes
I haven't actually entered it yet. I tried, but was unable to pull the trigger. Your vote still counts. I like reflections too. Of course, I like birds as well. :)

I'm still struggling on what to enter. Oh, why do we put ourselves through such angst? ;-)

15. Thanks!
That helps :silly: Seriously, thanks for doing the family poll.

Only one of my daughters in my family do I trust for opinions. Guess what? She voted for this, which is not in my final two. Although I *might* actually like it best, I thought it didn't have enough interesting clouds in it for the subject. Maybe I'll save this for Blue.

I have quite a few of these Sandy Reflections pics, and it was hard to narrow it down. In some the clouds are best, in some the sand is best, and in some the reflection is best.

16. That's absolutely beautiful!
Does put me in the mind of blue.

Still, the white in it stands out and demands attention.

19. Just a few more clouds and
It would be great for "White". I do like the shadows on the sand.

17. I"m changing my mind. This one rocks completely, as well as the two others.
As I see it, you have a problem, Houston.
Honestly, this is my favorite of them all. (I know you don't need more input, but if you chose this one, take a hair off the sky or add a bit on the bottom if you have it, it seems I am the Queen of crop these days)

18. I came back just to see it one more time.
There is a message there.

(now I have 5 dinner guests arriving shortly, it's time to light the candles. Tomorrow I will see if the one I have pegged as an entry is worthwhile. But I think I'll be stubborn and just use it.
Otherwise, I have some serious shooting to do)

20. Have fun Mira!
I think I'll sleep on it. You are right about this one needing cropping. This is straight out of the camera, because it didn't make my finals. Maybe I'll play with it and see what it looks like. Then I might have a worse problem, choose among three photos.

22. Sandy Reflections for me
I like the composition and the very white sand. Without the title, I wouldn't know the other one was a wave. But a marvelous photo none the less.

23. Just wanted to thank everyone again for their comments
I finally decided I liked the touch of blue at the top of the bird pic, even though I don't think the voting public will really notice that.

24. You had tough choices to make - I like the way everybody expressed their
opinions.

About the touch of blue - I'd say never underestimate the power of the subliminal.
