I'm taking a break from editing my land and city scape shots from Costa Rica to post a few pix of Aiman and his mom and dad.

Here are Aiman and Riaz enjoying a late afternoon at the beach, which is a very short distance from their house.

3. An exact quote from my mom

after sending her your teaser photo, "He has to be one of the most beautiful children ever." I agree with her. These are great but I'm liking the one with his mom best. She is not in enough photos with him since she seems to be the one with the camera most of the time. Just not sure if the sign language or the close up is my fav. Off to the to the threads.

4. I know you will believe me, I came a number of times today to LOOK and

HOPE TO FIND just what you have now posted. I was out tonight, and came home to the bounty.

It's like a little window into the family and the interactions and their heart beats. Because you took them, they are all masterpieces, and heirlooms, in essence. The sign language one is highly unusual and so very intimate.
(always curious: why the teaching of sign language?)

Every one in this family is beautiful.
My friend in Arenal, whose son had the 40th Birthday party at the Gingerbread restaurant that Kristina wrote about in the blog, remembers them very well and of course exceedingly favorably.

5. The sign language for babies

has been developed to help them communicate what they want before they're able to talk. Of course, now Aiman speaks the word "juice," but he still does the little "J" motion with his pinky finger on his chin when he says it. In fact, he does it with both hands. A double shot maybe?

6. Jungle Boy - Aiman and Mommy

I don't know what these photos are to you. Maybe just a scrapbook of sorts but Aiman and Mommy is an exceptional portrait. Worthy of publication. I could ramble on about what I "see" in this photo and the Jungle Boy but I'm done rambling for the day.

9. Very good use of lighting.

I like the composition as well, it's as though one just happened upon the scene instead of a staged photo. Obligatory kudos for the boy. I'm sure he'll do well in life with such a loving and socially balanced upbringing. Good luck.

Were those manually focused? The backgrounds are nicely diffused bringing attention to the subjects.

10. Actually, I DID just happen upon the scenes.

The light down there was exceptional at certain times of the day, so I just waited for it. The last picture of Kristina and Aiman I took while they were watching the guys burning the brush. I just stood off to one side and shot away. I think I was using the 70-200 at the time.

My favorites are rice and beans and jungle boy although they are all beautiful. I especially love the fact that they aren't too light. So many photos taken in sunlight are just too light for my taste and it takes away from the subject.

I can't say enough about how beautifully done these are.

I make a special point of underexposing in bright light. It always seems a lot easier to bring the light up in processing rather than take it down. Sometimes I go a little too far, but for the most part, it seems to work.

14. I agree that it's easier to bring the light up than

to take it down. I think many photos could be improved just by making them a bit darker.
